How to play
Every drop starts as snow in the cloud. What it is when it lands depends on the three layers of air it falls through, as forecasters read a sounding:
- Rain: warm air near the ground melts it.
- Freezing rain: warm in the middle, then only a thin layer of cold air near the ground: it lands as water, too cold, and freezes on whatever it touches.
- Sleet: warm aloft, then cold all the way down: it melts, then freezes again into ice pellets.
- Snow: cold all the way.
Turning a layer turns it for every drop in it, and a drop caught halfway through a turn lands as slush. Each drop falls over the place whose order it is for: landing as that kind fills the order and scores 100, more for every order in a row; anything else is a miss, the order goes with it (in the first four, it is asked again), and three misses end the round. The first four orders are the four kinds in turn, one drop at a time, with a note saying how to make each; after them, drops come closer together and fall a little faster with each one. 2,000 brings the Mixed bag stamp.
